Duplicates On Wait List

I noticed it is possible to add yourself more than once to the wait list for an event. Is this a bug that is to be fixed?

Hi Bob

Yes. That's a bug and should be fixed. However, it doesn't take high priority for now, I will try to correct it in the next release (there are other features I want to focus working on first)

Ok, good to know it is on the list for fixing in the future. For now it is manageable for us, we just have to keep an eye on our waiting lists.

I don't view this as a bug, and in fact I use this functionality as follows...
1) 10 people join a waiting list
2) 1 Registrant Cancels
3) I let the waiting list know that a space is now available.
4) Somebody from the waiting list takes this space
5) 2 people are too slow to get the place, but fill out the waiting list form again.
6) If I get another cancellation, I let the two people from step 5) know first, as I know that they are still very interested.

Also, parents register their children for our events. The children fields are set up as custom fields. 1 Parent may want to add 3 children to a waiting list (Can only individually register for the waiting list). This must be allowed to happen!

If you are going to remove the possibility of being on a waiting list twice, then please include it as an option.

We are just starting to use waiting lists. Our experience: When a person cancels a registration the first person on the waiting list is automatically registered. If a group registration cancels then several slots open up and 1 or more individuals or groups on the wait list are automatically registered in the order that they were added to the wait list. I wasn't aware that you can keep the wait list held and manually register people on the wait list when cancellations occur.

I am just about to upgrade from EB 2.13.2 to the latest version. Tuan, if I update, can I keep the Waiting List management manual, i.e. no auto-allocation of places to the first person on the waiting list?

You can go ahead to update. No auto-allocation happens. The latest version just allow you to you manual select registrant to send payment request to them if you want

Then the selected user will be able to make payment to become registrant in the system.

All still works as before (in case you don't use/configure the extra feature), so you can still manual moving users from waiting lists to registrants if needed

Ok, I could have sworn that it did auto-allocation in my testing but I guess I was wrong.

It could happen if:

1. The event is free

2. You have the plugin Events Booking - Move Registrants Plugin enabled.

So disable the plugin Events Booking - Move Registrants Plugin will prevent it from happening
