Paypal: calculate the correct processing fee? was created by Holger Dexheimer
Hi all,

probably I'm not the first wondering how to calculate the correct processing fee for paypal - but I'm not able to find a matching thread...

Current conditions for using paypal is: 1.9% + 0.35 EUR each payment. Events Booking itself indicates the correct amount on each invoice - so far so good. But Paypal charges more processing fee than indicated on EB-invoices.

Why? Indeed, it's simple to recalculate:
E.g.: gross amount of the invoice is 148,51 EUR -> so processing fee sholud be 3,17 EUR
Paypal charges 3,23 EUR as their calculation is: 148,51 EUR + 3,17 EUR = 151,68 EUR.
=> processing fee for 151,68 EUR is 3,23 EUR

Despite that this may be a small gap, I'm not able to match invoices amount vs. real payments. At the end of the day the mass a large number of payments (and different prices) will lead to a remarkable difference ;((

Any ideas how to fix this?

Hello Holger

It is still not very clear to me about this issue. Normally, the fee which Events Booking is calculated will be passed to PayPla and that payment amount will be processed by PayPal

Could you please let us know exactly:

1. What's the value of Amount column in Registration record?

2 What's the payment amount which users see and being charged when they are being redirected to PayPal?

Let us know so that I can understand the actual issue you are having and find the answer

Tuan
