Email not wanted for an event was created by Peter Collins
I am trying to set the email custom field to display and be required ONLY in a specific event and not the others. However, when I save, the Field Assignment reverts back to the All Events setting. Can I create an event without requiring an email?

Hello Peter

Unfortunately, it is not possible. At the moment, Events Booking requires first_name and email fields to be available for all events

The reason is because it needs to send email to registrant to confirm the registration after registration completed. Not sure why you want to remove it?

If you still want to remove it, try to get this file, unzip it, upload to administrator/components/com_eventbooking/model folder, then try to save the setting again. it should be saved for email field now

However, I could not assure that everything will work as expected with that change. You need to test it and confirm

Regards,

Tuan

Honestly I don't see why you wouldn't make the ability to make any field not required. Why not make the product as scaleable as possible so even in rare occurrences users don't run into trouble. Our library uses Event Bookings to organize our events, but many if not most patrons of the library don't have an email to sign up with so we've run into problems because you simply cant leave the field blank. They come to our library to use the public computers, but are not on computers often enough to have an email address. Just because you don't see a reason why something would be left blank, does not mean a reason does not exist. Hopefully you don't see this as rude, I'm not trying to be condescending, just showing my own opinion.

Thanks Tuan

I am organising a church Conference where ages range from 0-90+. I allow group booking of the main event so the first group booking person has to have an email and currently if members of his group don't have one he just has to put in his own again. That's fine.

But we also have up to 40 optional seminar events during the week-long 'main' event that really just need a name. I only need to restrict each event to say 30 attendees. I can see it would be easy enough for most people to add an email address but it will be difficult for some.

Thanks for the zip file. If I try it, can it be removed easily if it doesn't work? Many thanks.

=> Actually you can setup it better. You can edit that custom field, change Display In to Both Individual and Group Registration Billing Form. Then he won't have to enter the data for group members

=> OK, try the modified file I sent, that should allow you to setup it to work as you want. Just make a backup of the original file before replacing so that in case something goes wrong, you can roll back. Honestly, I just did a quick code modification without actual testing
