Adding custom fields to event item

Hello,

Is there an easy way to add a custom field to an event item.

My events are teaching seminars and I have a list of teachers and translators that I need to assign to each event.

The two lists are already in mysql so I would just need to assign each one to each event separetly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
