So it's about a year later and I have to set up registration again. I'm digging in a little deeper this time, trying to get the registration where it needs to be for the site.
I used the first option (from my original post) - by creating "CHILD EVENTS" however, when someone signs up for the "PARENT EVENT" they don't get registered for all the child events as well. I'm hoping to get them signed up for the child events, so the system sends out notifications/reminders of when their events are. Is this possible.
I did a quick search and found something that might work, although I'm not 100% sure if it will or not.

Thanks for the help

Just want to update that I just developed a plugin (which will be part of next release) to allow you to configure an event so that when someone registers for that event, he will be registered to the selected events (or all children events of that event) automatically
That could be the solution for this problem

Hi Tuan,
that sounds great. I've been thinking about this issue for a while, and have some suggestions/requirements, so that it would work for me.
As a reminder of our setup: We run terms of clubs (14 events). People sign up for a term. People can sign up at any time (if there is space), and just pay for the remaining clubs. At the moment, I manage this (changing dates, shared registration lists and reducing cost) by simply having 1 event for a term, and then updating after every event to reduce the price and shift the dates.
1) If people register for the term, we will need to be able to easily cancel a registration for all term events as well.
2) For each event, I'd like to set up a list of children events, e.g. after clubs 1 and 2 have been completed, if somebody registers for club 3, they are registered for clubs 4 through 14 as well, and only pay price of club 3.
3) If the next event is Club 2, and somebody is looking at the calendar of all that club's events, and click on, e.g. club 5, then they should be redirected to Club 2 for details and to complete registration and payment.
4) In the category list of events, I would only ever want the next event in that term shown.
5) For book keeping purposes as well of management of lists, we would need to discern between a real registration, and the automatic registration for children events.
6) It would be great to be able to use the lists to check in members each week.

Sounds like it will be what I need.
quick question - my support ran out, do I just need to purchase Event Booking again to continue support for another year and be able to download this feature?

@Donal For now, I would start with simple use-case first. Register for one event will auto register for other selected events (defined by admin for that event) first.
@Craid Yes, if your subscription expired, you will need to purchase the extension again to continue receiving support and upgrade for another year
Regards,
Tuan

Thanks for the fast response, Tuan. How much would it cost to get the implementation fully developed with the functionality I mentioned above?

@Craig Should be in about 2 weeks o so.
@Donal: To be honest, I haven't had time to think about all of the items, so I am not sure about the price. Too busy now (and I guess I won't have time to work on the customization if you want me to work on it). As of right now, I want to focus on support and improve the products only. There are still things I want to work on to improve, also, have to plan to support the extension for Joomla 4, too

Hi Tuan,
I think adding workable support for terms of events *would* improve the product. Judging by this thread and others like it in the forum, you have other customers with the requirement as well, but you're the boss.
Regards,
Donal

Hi,
I would like to add my 2 cents since I need exactly the mentioned features in this thread. From the user perspective (in my case school members), there are no parent and child events. Instead, it is a single event spread over several sessions, like every Monday from 6 - 7 pm.
It might be the case that each session will be charged by fees and user might want to cancel an ongoing event that is why from the data it needs to be organized in parent and child events. But in the frontend parent and child events needs to be shown as one event. Otherwise it will be confusing.
So in table, list and category view recurring events needs to shown as one, but the sessions spread out over specific dates. This should be reflected in the calendar view.
Child events shouldn't have the same ID level as single events. Like if create an recurring event with 10 sessions, there will be 10 events with ID 1 - 10. ID's should be instead somehow nested.
@Tuan: The features update for recurring events, is it already released?
Thank you,
Chris
