Can I update to 2.8.1 an existing Event ?

Hi all, as usual I'm asking if it is safe to update to 2.8.1 from an existing installation of 2.7.0 where the event is customized with custom fees, custom number of tickets etc. In other words if I can update without resetting any counters or ruining the running event.

You should be able to without any problem or issue.All the custom stuff is stored in the database, and those records should never be modified on upgrade. Customized code would be a different story however...
Generally, before upgrading a key extension or Joomla itself, I run a backup of my complete site using Akeeba Backup . If anything goes wrong, my site can be restored from the backup within a few minutes using Akeeba Kickstart's ANGIE utility. For reference, All the information that you need to enter into ANGIE regarding db address & credentials, etc, when recovering a site back to same location on the same server is stored in your site's /configuration.php file.

Hi James, great advice and yes, I did the update as suggested and everything seems to work fine. Thanks for the suggestions! One last question: would you know what the difference is between 2.8.1 and 2.8.0 ? I seem I can't get this info. Is it maybe related to just the 3.6 compatibility issue?

Following the forums, the 3.6 compatibility was the main fix, but there have also been a few additional tweaks & minor features added into the current 2.8.1 download since the initial version of 2.8.1 was released. I'm guessing that Tuan will document these hot-fixes in the announced 2.9.0 coming out in a week or two.

As James pointed out, 2.8.1 was just released to fix an issue causes by a change in Joomla 3.6.0. Today, I released version 2.9.0. see joomdonation.com/forum/events-booking-ge...-2-9-0-released.html for changes in this new version
