module upcoming events hide when empty was created by Helen Nunley
Hi,
When I set the module upcoming events to hide when empty, it still shows with "There are no up-coming events".
Is it possible to get it to hide?
Thanks,
Helen

Hi Helen
I don't think the module has that parameter, not sure where you see it. If you want to hide it when it is empty, you can try to get this modified module, update it to your site
I haven't tested it (just did a quick modification) but it should work well
Regards,
Tuan

Sounds like a useful (and easy to code
) feature to add.
I could see making use of it -- better to show nothing at all than have nothing to show.

Hi Tuan,
I am testing the module and the module content does disappear now when there are no events to display but the location doesn't collapse. In other words, the space is still being used but the module doesn't show, like an empty module of Joomla long ago.. Is there a way to have the location collapse as well?
Thanks,
Helen

I am afraid of it is handled by Joomla core, so we might not be able to hide it completely. I will try to look at the Joomla core code to see how it is handled and give you final answer during this weekend

I am using Advanced Modules Manager to "Hide if empty" and I have been reading that it might relate back to the template so I am investigating this.

After fiddling with this and checking with template support, it is not possible for the module position to collapse if empty because the module is called upon and seen because the module returns active information even though empty.
My work around is to place the module within an article. Then if there is no information, the only thing noticed is a bit more white space. This can be removed with classes and css if desired.
Hope this helps.

Strange that template doesn't have a way to handle (I don't work much with template, so I don't know why). Glad to see that you had a work around
