Depend on field was created by Andrew Hicks
The 'Depend On' field is an excellent idea. Is it possible for this field to include, as source, event-specific custom fields. For example we might have an event level radio button (eg includes meal) than can turn on or off several other booking fields (special dietary requirements / vegetarian / nut allergy / etc)? These fields do not appear in the list currently but am hoping this is a configuration switch somewhere...

Sorry Andrew. Depends on option can only works with registration form custom fields. It could not work with Event Custom Field (Event custom fields is just used to display more information about the event, it could not be used as a depend on field)

Hi Tuan,
Logically it should be possible, and it would make sense because some events might require different booking information to others - eg if no food is included then you don't need to ask about dietary requirements. But if this is an enhancement too far then so be it. We can live without. It would be useful, that's all. Thanks anyway.

Andrew

Hi Tuan,
I was wondering if anything has changed re this question. I would REALLY be useful if event managers could turn fields on or off based on custom event fields. For example if some events have a catering supplement and others do not then we don't want to specify the catering option for all events.

Andrew

Hi Andrew

As you know, so far, one none of other customers need this feature, so I don't think I will work on it. I will spend time to work on other features which can be useful for more customers instead.

The way Event custom fields in Events Booking work is that in case you leave a field empty, it won't be displayed for that event

So in this case, I guess you should simply leave the fields you don't want to enter empty

Regards,

Tuan

I quite understand, thank you Tuan.

I understand that if Event fields are left empty then they are not displayed.

I would be using 'Depends on' field from the Event Description to turn on/off custom fields in the registration form - otherwise these always appear.

For example we might have an event field called "accomodation_supplement"
and a custom booking field called "Include meal in price?"
This custom booking field would be a fee field with formula ([FIELD_VALUE]*[ACCOMODATION_SUPPLEMENT])
This booking button would always display regardless of whether anything is input in accomodation_supplement.

That is why it wuold be nice - at some point in the future - if you decide to do it - to make that custom registration field a "depends on" field - linked either to whether the accomodation_supplement field is non-empty or to some other simple yes/no field.

I accept this is not a priorty for your business unless others start asking for the same thing but I thought I ought to explain it clearly first.

Regards,
Andrew
