Help with SEF urls

Hi,
My client is using Joomla 2.5 and wants the best possible SEO friendly urls.
Some urls from Event Booking are causing us trouble such as:
www.perthballroomdancing.com/events/metr...nce-night-05-18-2016
We would ideally like to shorten this to something like: www.perthballroomdancing.com/events/metr...nce-night-05-18-2016
How can we do this?

Sorry enoch. It is not possible (or will take much time to make modification, then test and make sure it works, especially when you are still using Joomla 2.5)

You can send me a copy of the file components/com_eventbooking/router.php, I will try to make a quick modification to see whether it works (but I won't spend too much time)
