For simplicity lets say I am setting up an event which is a Coffee Morning.
I need 6 volunteers to sell cakes and make coffee.
I need a volunteer to set tables out at the start of the day and put them away
I need 2 volunteers to put dishes away
I need 1 volunteer to sell raffle tickets
I can probably enable the event registration for this and do something with different ticket types.
Or I can create custom fields like the Speaker on the tab by default.
But if I want to sell tickets to the coffee morning my volunteers wouldn't be paying , and I don't want the "public" seeing the volunteer fields. So does using event registration make it messy? Although it would send a reminder to say "Don't forget you are selling cakes on Saturday"
The custom fields like speaker only I can edit the content so someone (a registered user of the site but not an event editor) can't say "I'll make some cakes" am I right? Also that wouldn't drive any reminder messages...?
Are there any other ways to do this? (JEvents has a function that can manage resources, or rather claims to but seemed a lot of effort!)

Hi
At the moment, Events Booking doesn't support this feature and to be honest, I don't have any plan to support this option in any near future
For this requirement, I don't think you should use event registration to handle this. Maybe using a form extension to collect these data would be better.
If you use event registration, maybe :
1. Assign all volunteers to a Joomla group on your site, for example, volunteers and creating an access level for that group
2. Create a separate event to allow volunteers to register
3. Set access level of that event to volunteers so that public users won't see and won't be able to register for the event
I am not sure if that works or not. If not, then maybe using a different extension for this task would be the right choice

Thanks Tuan
Was't expecting you to write a component for it. Just wondering if it was something anyone had asked about before and any solution created.
I did consider the separate event option - I think it will confuse our volunteers (not always the brightest bunch of IT users!)
The majority of our events have a standard set of requirements and we separately manage those via a separate duty manager independent of Joomla. (Frustration for me as I like everything integrated). So for the unusual events I've said they need to go take a look at that and see what it can do. What it misses is that when I sign my child up for a race, I can't instantly see that we still need a race official which I could volunteer for as I will need to be there for the child to race...
However your comment did prompt me to think maybe we need a Duty Manager for Joomla and maybe I should create it (I'm full of things I will create in the future!) but have started a Sailwave Component so it could be an extra to that as its something every sailing club needs! That prompted me to google Duty Manager Joomla and this comes up: www.openglobal.co.uk/shop/joomla/openglo...-manager-detail.html Not studied it but its at least the concept of what we do externally. It has a link in some-way to JEvents. I may discuss with them if it could also link the EB - although its more twice the price of joom-donation software!!

This wouldn't be a perfect solution, but it could satisfy your need for people to see that volunteer positions still need filling...
Create a custom quantity field (eg radio group) for [Volunteer Positions Available], and list what you need filled and the quantity needed.
