a 'spit' is a rod upon which savory food was roasted, turned in ancient times by a worker called a 'jack', a middle English word for an ordinary laborer (eg jack of all trades, steeplejack, lumberjack). Today, this is done by a 19th C machine.

In the above string, when I load a pdf of the invoice from the back end (to send a client a copy), it prints that literal string, e.g. "INV-[YEAR]-5619" instead of inserting 2016. Is this because I'm loading from the back end? Or is there a configuration option I have missed?

Where do you insert that string ? Into invoice layout ? Right now, we don't support the [YEAR] tag, and that's the reason it is not being replaced

The code seems to come from the EB source code somewhere. I'm merely using the default [INVOICE_NUMBER] in the invoice setup screen.
