HELP: How to NOT auto populate a custom field? was created by Roger D
- EB 2.3.2
- User registration integration: Enabled
- Standard Joomla Profile, NO add on profile being used (CB, Jomsocial, etc)
If user registers for event and fills in field "Comment", as example, the next time user registers for different event the "Comment" field is populated with previous events registration comment. Is there a way to PREVENT populating comment box with prior?
I also have a custom field I created to select different products, same problem as above. whatever user selected for prior event is auto populated on next registration. I would like it to also forget prior selections. Can this be done?
Thank you,
Roger

Hi Roger
Unfortunately, we don't have that option. Infact, I think auto populate from previous registration is nice because it will save time for registrants to not have to enter data again
I understand your need, and happy to assist when your site ready goes to live. For now, please ignore this item

Tuan,
I've been live with two sites for a few weeks, I just keep that test site running for us
The auto populate is great, it's just clients when they register for additional events COMMENTS from prior are auto populating and they are sending (not realizing prior comments are entered) comments that no longer apply. So, it was really just the comment I don't want auto populating. My other custom field is a list of products, it defaults to last product. would be nice if they had to always start by RE CONFIRMING THAT product selection.
Any thoughts on code I could hack would be fine
Thank you,
Roger

So basically, you don't want to populate data from old registration for all fields ?

Specifically, the core comment field. I thought it was for a message to event host for that particular event, like "I'm bringing xyz, if I need anything else contact me". That type of comment I don't think should carry over, do you?
User made custom fields I think it would be handy to have a config option to auto populate or not. If used as an item to buy list along with event, Red shirt, Blue shirt, etc. That should probably clear for the next event so they make a new choice, OR if they don't want shirt next time and it's already selected they will probably fail to reset it to none and buy it accidentally.
I think I turned this into a wish list feature
Add option for user created custom fields to carry over or not (leave the core fields as is, I can turn off core comment and then make my own comment with option to carry over or not.
As always, thank you.
