Users are seeing the attached screen, but when I go to paypal and send money to the the same PayPal recipient email the transaction works - so the email in the configuration is valid and working on PayPal itself. This system was working for our last event, but nonstop failures now. Nothing has changed (except maybe the version of Joomla).

J 3.4.8
EB 1.7.1

a 'spit' is a rod upon which savory food was roasted, turned in ancient times by a worker called a 'jack', a middle English word for an ordinary laborer (eg jack of all trades, steeplejack, lumberjack). Today, this is done by a 19th C machine.

The <a href= code at the top of the screen is a problem. That's beginning of an html link element. Something from your site is definitely sending the wrong form data to PayPal.

It is clearly not something causes by Events Booking. There must be a plugin on your site causing this. Quick check and think that System - Mail Links to Contact Enhanced might be the one like that

I unpublished it, could you check it again?

No, just the plugin "System - Mail Links to Contact Enhanced". Sorry, I don't have time to test it myself now, so I had to unpublish the plugin which I think is the reason of the error

Could you please test it with the plugin unpublished and report the result back ?

could this be related to the captcha? CE uses securimage so that might flag an href error

It seems to work... i created a $1 test event and the paypals went through both with and without captcha.

but paypal is a pain. i think i will add stripe to this. will the new version of stripe plugin work with this older version of EB (1.7.1)?
