(1) Registration fields & (2) mini calendar was created by Mike
Hi folks,
I have just a few questions....
1. On the Registration Screen, I have a number of fields (eg Name, Address, Phone, Email) etc
For most events, these are mandatory, but for one event (or Catgory), only the Name is mandatory.
In the "Fields Manager: Fields" area of config, I can set the "Require" to be by event..... can I set it to be by Category?
The reason is that I dont want to have to manually set this each time a new event is created, so at the moment, I have set the "Require" to be on "All Events", which of course meant that is is required even for those few events where it should not be required.
Can these firlds be turned on/off by "Category" instead of "Event"?
2. The mini calendar being used in the system is from "DHTML Date/Time Selector - (c) dynarch.com 2002-2005 / Author: Mihai Bazon"
This is great for most things, but I have a field for "Date of Birth", where users have to go back a number of years..... I have had user feedback that this calendar is not simple to use, as the years only go back 10 years at a time, and then, only each 2 years is shown, so it is a bit difficult for users (especially those who are not used to computers) to use.
Is there another calendar I can use, and can this be configured easily in the system?
I will understand it if this cannot be done.
thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
For question #1, if I understand your requirement correctly, you can go to Events Booking -> Configuration, find the config option "Assign Custom Fields to category instead of to events", set it to Yes. Then you can assign custom field to category instead of the events. That might solve the problem you are having, but I am not sure 100%
For question #2, unfortunately, there is not a choice. That's Joomla core calendar input and it could not be changed

Thanks Tuan,
your answer to question #1 seems to have done the trick!......
and I guessed that question #2 was core functionality which couldn't be changed easily......
I personally think the mini calendar is fine, and that the complaints I have had from users were not really genuine ones, so I think it is reasonable to tell these people to just do it!

thanks a million!
