Translations Version 1.6.3/1.6.6 vs. 1.7.2 was created by Roger
Hello
I downloaded version 1.7.2. yesterday and compared the file with the older versions, that I have installed (1.6.3 und 1.6.6) I then added a lot of German translations to the 1.7.2. and copied the file via FTP to my sites. Unfortunately these sitees only use the Englisch translations anymore. Were there any changes in the files? It didn't look to me that way when I was comparing them.
Can you imagine what could be the problem? I now downloaded backups and restored to old files. Haven't upgraded the version yet.
Added: I had a look at the language files in the download of Event Booking. In the German language files, there are three different versions of the language file and all three look different. One is about half the size of the other one. And also the other two are not equal.
Thanks
Roger

Hi Roger
The German translation file in the extension is not completed. I got it from customers (I don't have translator here).
So the issue you are having might because there is something wrong with your language file. Could you please send me the language file which you translated so that I can check?

Hi Tuan
Thanks for your answer. In the annexe you will find the German translation I did based on version 1.7.2. At least it seems to me that way. If you like you can use the translation for other people too. What I did is changing also a lot of strings which were, since German words are usually longer than English words, too long. Now they fit the layout.
I did some translations for the backend too but not all of them.
It would be great if you could have a look what is wrong with the file. I hope it is not the file extension or the name of the file
Thanks
Roger

Hi Roger
To be honest, I don't know as I asked one of my dev to check it, maybe it is simple mistake somewhere. I will ask him about it on tomorrow and update you.

Hi Tuan
Did some tests. Most of the words seem to work. What I found is that the translation of the validated fields is not working. See images in annexe. But taking the original language file from the 1.7.2 package load it to the web server open the translations in Event Booking component and translating it makes it work.
When I downloaded the 1.7.2 version I took the language file for German in there and compared the file with Win Merge with the language file I had from version 1.6.3. I copied all the missing strings from 1.7.2. to 1.6.3. and made the translations.
Something must still be strange. I'm afraid of tranlating the 1024 strings inside the component... This will be a huge task...
Thanks
Roger

Hi Tuan
Found a problem in a language file, this already fixed a problem.
There is in administrator/language a file called de-DE.com_eventbooking.sys. This causes some problems if you switch on the language debugger of joomla. Is this file still needed by Event Booking?
Thanks

Hi Tuan
I finally just about made it. I would be glad if you could answer my question from the last post

In the meantime I have about 95% of all trings translated into German. If you are interested feel free to use it.
Is there an easy way after an update from one version to the next one to see if there are new language strings which need to be translated? To check through all more than 1000 strings is quite a hassle.
Thanks
Roger
