After backing up my site with version 1.6.2, I applied the latest version to a website that had pre-existing categories, events, custom fields, and locations.

Upon checking the Custom Fields, I found all of the field types that were Dropbox had been changed to Text. I manually reset them to what I assume is the new value "list", because that change brought forward all of the previous values that had existed for those fields.

Problem 1 : The Field type column remains blank on the Field Management page. This is a minor problem.

When I created a new Event, the following error message was generated: Unknown column 'alias' in 'field list' SQL=INSERT INTO `azf27_eb_events` (`id`,`location_id`,`title`,`event_date`,`event_end_date`,`short_description`,`description`,`access`,`registration_access`,`individual_price`,`event_capacity`,`created_by`,`cut_off_date`,`registration_type`,`max_group_number`,`discount_type`,`discount`,`early_bird_discount_type`,`early_bird_discount_date`,`early_bird_discount_amount`,`enable_cancel_registration`,`cancel_before_date`,`enable_auto_reminder`,`remind_before_x_days`,`monthdays`,`recurring_end_date`,`recurring_occurrencies`,`paypal_email`,`notification_emails`,`user_email_body`,`user_email_body_offline`,`thanks_message`,`thanks_message_offline`,`ordering`,`published`,`custom_fields`,`api_login`,`transaction_key`,`fixed_group_price`,`attachment`,`custom_field_ids`,`payment_methods`,`currency_code`,`currency_symbol`,`registration_approved_email_body`,`language`,`meta_keywords`,`meta_description`,`enable_coupon`,`alias`) VALUES ('0','33','Test Event','2014-08-08 10:0:00','2014-08-08 11:0:00','Test event for update 1.6.6','This is a test event for the update to version 1.6.6','1','1','','','934','','1','','1','','1','','','0','','0','','','0000-00-00 00:00:00','0','','','','','','','76','0','field_speaker=\"\"\nfield_hours=\"\"','','','','','','','','','','*','','','0','test-event')

Problem 2: The Alias field was not created during the software upgrade.

It was necessary to have our Data Administrator manually add the "alias" field to the table. I was then able to add a new event successfully. Our Data Administrator questioned me on why this field was not added during the software update, and also wanted to know what values should be in the pre-existing records for that column.

Because of the need to add the 'alias' field manually, I opened the pre-existing events and did a Save&Close with no other changes, in an attempt to see if Joomla would generate an "alias". It did generate a value for the field, BUT it cleared out the Category value on the Save.

In fact, during the creation of a new Event, the SAVE clears out the Category field no matter what value I select for it. So when I attempt to list all events in a category on the Event Management page, any new event or pre-existing event that has been updated do not appear.

Problem 3: the Category field for an Event is not being updated with any values, and is clearing out pre-existing values.

This is what I consider to be a major problem. Is there a fix to allow the selection of the Category field for an Event to be saved properly?

Lastly - on the Registration form in the front end, I would prefer the fields to be listed as "City" then "State" then "Zip". It currently lists the "Zip" before the "State" field. Is there a setting I can adjust to make this happen?

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Thank you for your quick response. My agency is very reluctant to allow outside access to non-employees.

I restored the site, and also loaded it on a Server where the site userid has more permissions to access the database. I downloaded a new copy of the latest version, and retried my update. By having more access permissions to the database, it seems to have resolved most of the problems.

I will try it again on our PROD server, after requesting to have the site userid access permissions on the database increased for this task. If it does not work, I have permission to make the changes on a copy of the PROD site on the other server where the update did work. Once it has been tested and is successful, it will then be promoted to the PROD environment.

Thank you again for the quick response and identifying the version did not update successfully because of insufficient access permissions to the database tables.
