change State field to Text and not a Select field?

I can't seem to make the State field a Text field. It says it is but it's coming up as a Select field

Was there a solution for this issue? I am having the a similar, possibly the same problem.

I have the Events Booking "State" field mapped to the Community Builder "State" field. When the page is first viewed, however, it displays "N/A" with no options to change the data, rather than what the mapped data should be filling in.

I have successfully mapped all the other fields without any problems. It is only the state field being stubborn.

Maybe the reason is because the account you logged in doesn't have valid country in his Community Builder profile ? Could you please check ?

Correct you are... Community Builder does not require a dropdown list selection for the Country field (or the State for that matter). So users can enter in whatever form/spelling of the country that they wish. I had "USA" and the State field read "N/A". Once I changed it to "United States", it worked.

Is there a way to simply allow the mapping to work and not require the list?

Yes, it displays the country field which is mapped to display the Community Builder field, which is a generic text field.

Then I am afraid of you will need to change the state field in Event Booking from State type to a normal text field. it is the only way for now

I've had all of the country and state fields in both EB and Community Builder set to text field from the beginning. It just doesn't seem to allow the state field to be anything other than a list-type field. The setting for field type for "state" in the backend custom fields is ignored and reverts back to a dropdown list rather than text area.
