a 'spit' is a rod upon which savory food was roasted, turned in ancient times by a worker called a 'jack', a middle English word for an ordinary laborer (eg jack of all trades, steeplejack, lumberjack). Today, this is done by a 19th C machine.
Menu item...can't create one was created by spitjack
In the new version, I don't seem able to create an event booking menu item. here is what my dropdown panel looks like - and nothing happens when i click on it.

Just FYI, this is handled by Joomla core, not by Events Booking. Maybe it is a bug of Joomla core ? Glad to hear that you find a way to solve it. Thanks for sharing
