a 'spit' is a rod upon which savory food was roasted, turned in ancient times by a worker called a 'jack', a middle English word for an ordinary laborer (eg jack of all trades, steeplejack, lumberjack). Today, this is done by a 19th C machine.

I am rather surprised that the configuration of my older version of EB didn't come over with my template update to J3.3 and EB 1.6.x.
Config settings lost: 12 locations, recurring events, coupon codes...
Or did I miss something?

Unless you did something wrong with your upgrade, all the old data should be kept. Could you please setup a copy of your original site to somewhere so that we can help you to upgrade ?

For the most part, I have it rebuilt by hand already - and I saved all the old info as a CSV before upgrading both the framework and EventBooking. Only the regular locations are missing, but I can recreate them in a few minutes, when it's time for a new event.
