Does v1.6.5 make site registration mandatory ? was created by erixis
I'm upgrading to 1.6.5 from 1.5.3.
I don't see a way to turn of the user name and password / log in as required fields. Is this not gone, or just hidden somewhere.
I don't want registrants to have to create an account if they don't want to. Can this still be set up this way?
Thanks
Eric

Hi Eric
I don't remember correctly but I think it works in the same way. In Events Booking, if you enable registration integration :
+ If users have an account, they can login before continuing the registration.
+ If users don't have an account. they need to enter username and password to register for one. It could not be optional
Regards,
Tuan

Tuan,
Thanks for the reply.
I still have my old site set up. You can see on this page the username and password are not required:
www.erixis.com/rli?task=individual_registration&event_id=130
When I upgraded, last night, I copied the entire site to a new directory, using Akeeba Backup, and then upgraded the new instance of the site.
Now, if you look at the new site for that same event:
www.hoa-rli.org/rli?task=individual_registration&event_id=130
You see here it is presenting with the option to log in or establish an account, but you must do one or the other. In the old site, you had the option to create a username/password, but they were not required.
In both the old and the new, I have the user registration option turned on, but the integration option drop down is set to no integration.
Here is one difference between the two. In the old site, the Integration drop down options were either "no integration' 'Jomsocial' or 'community builder'
In the new site, with EB 1.6.5, the option is either 'no integration' or 'EB_JOOMLA_PROFILE' and with either one, it still requires either logging in, or creating an account.
I do not have Jomsocial or Community Builder installed on either version of the site.
Perhaps the installation was incomplete?
The old site has been working well for several years. Some users set up accounts and some don't. This was my preference, but if it is supposed to be mandatory, I suppose we can live with it.
Also, in looking through the Translation section, there are these options:
EB_DONT_WANT_TO_REGISTER - If you don't want to register for an account, leave the username and password fields empty
EB_USERNAME_REQUIRED - Please enter username to create an account or leave the password field empty
I don't think I've altered these fields, and I see no way I could have created a new field from here so I assume the system has a setting where these message would be appropriate, ie. a setting where creating an account isn't necessary.
Thanks
Eric

Hi Eric
To be honest, I don't know in what version I give account registration optional, maybe from long time ago. We require account registration (if you turn on registration integration) from long time ago - as mentioned, I don't remember when it begin.
So if you really want the account registration optional, you can submit a support ticket and we will help you to edit the code. However, since we don't have it in the lastest code, doing modification will prevent you from upgrading to future release
So please think about it carefully before making decision
