My question is on version 1.4.5 and Joomla 1.5.
I have custom payment fields set up for a number of payment options, silver, gold and platinum all different prices, these are for a table of people or for individuals and so I use the group booking for a table and individual booking for individuals. It is designed so a group booking "buys" the table which includes up to a set maximum of group members and a minimum of two. So I have no price in the event and only use two custom fields, one set to be in the individual billing form and one in the group billing form. I then have the drop down with all my prices, the fee field set to yes and my actual amounts listed as fee values. So individual registrants get charged a list of individual prices and group registrants get charged from a list of table costs regardless of the number of people they register but I can capture the number expected all the group members names. I have been using this for many years and was quite proud of the flexibility.
Now I am being asked to do something different and to my shock, seems it cannot be done. I do not need the fixed table option, so no change for the individual registrants, They continue to select from the drop down range of prices set in the custom fields form set to show in the individual billing form. But the customer wants to allow for group registration based on the same range of individual prices. So now I need the final group price to depend on two variables, the price option they chose AND the number in the group. I thought I could do this in the custom fields form set to show in the group billing form by just adding some maths in the Fee Formula, but this does not seem to be the case. I have tried to understand what is meant by the note "You can use [FIELD_VALUE] and math operator : +, -, * , / to calculate fee value for this field. It only applied for textbox field type " but cannot. So I am concluding that if you use custom billing form fields there is no way to pick up the number of people in a group to calculate the final group cost. This seems such a basic requirement I cannot believe I am the only one to have the issue. Many events have a range of ticket costs and so a group registration based on a range of ticket costs seems necessary.
I am sorry for the long description but i want to be sure my use case is understood. Please help me understand.
