Event Categories page displays when it shouldn't was created by Judy Dineen
Hi Tuan,
I'm sorry I have to ask another thing of you, but I've just had an interesting situation arise when doing some final testing.
I've set up the links to each of our events as a html href tag in a standard joomla sidebar module (see sidebar in first attachment). When I click the "here" link to register, the system should take me directly into the EB item (see second attachment). This has the Event Details and Register buttons at the bottom. What's started happening now is when I click the "here" link to register, I get the Event Categories page (see third attachment).
I've gone to the EB plugins and unpublished the Event Categories plugin, but it has made any difference.
The URL in all screenshots depicts what the link is pointing to, where after the index.php, "events" is the root menu item, "clp" is the event category, and "3-coaching-leader-programme-clp" is the unique event identifier.
Why is this happening and what can we do to correct it?
Kind regards,
Judy

Hi Tuan, I think I've found the cause. I double checked my Categories and I had set their layout to Table Layout and when I changed it to Default Layout, it seems to have rectified the problem. Do you agree that this would have been the cause? I'm just not sure why they sometimes displayed the event item and sometimes the list of categories. I just want to be sure that this won't be a random occurrence as we have 28,000 subscribers that we've started marketing to and need to know that there will be consistent behaviours for everyone.
Kind regards,
Judy

Hi Judy
I think the problem is because the wrong category you entered for the event in href tag. Are you sure you entered the correct link for href tag ? Where do you get the plugin ?
Please let me know !

Hi Tuan,
The EB plugin is referred to in the "/clp/3-coaching-leader-programme-clp" part of the url, as per the second and third attachments. (The first attachment shows the K2 item about the programme, with my custom html sidebar module showing the programme dates. Once you click "here" to register, then you are taken to the EB event.)
The links are still behaving well - but do you feel I should be linking to them differently?
Kind regards,
Judy

Hi Tuan, just letting you know I've realised what I'm doing wrong with the href links (yep, they started playing up again
) and the href link now reads like this "index.php?option=com_eventbooking&view=event&id=3". When I click the link in the front end, a more user friendly url displays "index.php/component/eventbooking/3-coaching-leader-programme-clp". It finally makes sense now
.
Best regards,
Judy
