Custom Field add field fee not calculating

I have set up a custom field for customers to add a donation to a booking.

Type : Textbox
Fee Field: set to Yes .
Fee Formula : +[FIELD_VALUE]

When a customer enters just a number, 10 or 100 the calculation works and that amount entered is added to the to total cost, all very good.
But if the customer enters $10 or $100 the amount is not added to the total cost. To create even more confusion the amount entered is shown on the confirmation page as Donation: $10 but not added to the total amount!!

Any suggestions??

Unfortunately, it could not work like that. Users will need to enter the correct value (a number) into the field. It could not understand the value when users enter $ symbol before amount.

To prevent users from enter data in wrong format, maybe in the next release, I will add a feature allows you to choose data type for the custom field and force users from entering data in the correct format. But for now, it is not possible,

The next version is planned to be released in the next 3 weeks !

That would be a great improvement to the system to add a feature that allows you to choose data type for the custom field and force users from entering data in the correct format.

That would solve a number of issues we are having to work around at the moment:

• Dates entered in the wrong format.
• Phone numbers starting with a zero having the zero dropped off.
• People entering text into calculation fields

I'm looking forward to the new version.

Unfortunately. this was not addressed in the last release. I was focus working on some other important features which you can see in the release of 1.6.2.

For this feature, I think I will add it to release 1.6.5 (which requires re-work on some part of custom fields to make it much better).
