Timezone not calculating/displaying for event

Our event begins at 9am PDT (Pacific Daylight Time). I'd like the time information to display as:

What we want: Mon, 01 Jul 2013 09:00 GMT -7:00

Using the setting "r" in Event Date Format almost gets us there, but it's not calculating the time zone information.

What we get with "r": Mon, 01 Jul 2013 09:00:00 +0000

Is this calculated on the location field? I've tried putting in longitude/latitude to help, but it didn't work. This is an online class, so physical location is really not relevant.

I am afraid of you will need to customize code in this case. It seems the r settings will display the time zone difference between your server timezone and the GMT timezone. It seems your hosting timezone sets to GMT and that's the reason you see +0000 instead of -7:00.

For now, I am afraid of we have no solution except customizing code.
