Hide "State" registration field in form ?

I am running Joomla 1.5 and I need to hide the "State" field in the registration form. I have tried setting it to "Not show" in the "Billing fields" but that won't do the trick? Do I need to edit the php code?

Also I would like the comment field to not be required.

Yes. You just need to edit the event and change the settings from there. The reason is because the settings in Configuration only affect new events.

Please try that and it should work as expected.
