How would I format the date to look a little more pretty?
The idea is to apply individual styling to the the day, month etc elements, I'm just not sure where to do that.

Take a look at the attachment to see what I mean.

Unfortunately, the extension doesn't allow you to do that. So in this case, you will need to customize the code of the extension. Please send me the link to the page so that I can guide you what file need to be customized.

I think I might need to add the HTML in views/common/event.php - not sure how. And then add the CSS in style.css?

That's the correct place. I believe if you now some php programming + html + css, you can do the modification yourself.
