Hiding Register Field was created by donaldgrant
I would like to disable or hide the "Registration" field, displaying it when the event date is decided. In this way people can view the events and their details without the need to Register until a date is decided. In our our case the events are seminars. Instead we would like interested people to sign up. We turn the registration field on when a date for any seminar is decided.

Hi
I think you can simply edit the event, set Registration Type to disabled. After that, the register button will be hided. When your event is ready for registration, you can change that field back to allow register.
Could you give it a try?

Thank you. It worked. But the displayed message reads, "we are no longer accepting registration for this event". This a post event message. How do I customize this message?

You can go to Events Booking -> Translation, find the text and change it to meet your need .
If you don't want to show the message, go to Events Booking-> COnfiguration, look at Themes tab, find the config option Show Message for Full Events, set it to No and the message should be hided.

Thank you for your timely response. your suggestions have been helpful.
Before an event I would like interested persons to sign up, i would like to collect these names and email them when event becomes available. Do I have to integrate another program to achieve this?

Yes, I think you will have to integrate a different extension (maybe a simple form component) to collect these data. The idea is that you create the form and then in the event description, you will post instruction that if users want to be notified, please click here (link to the form) to register (something like that, you can think for a better word).
Users can click on that link, enter their information and you can manage them from back-end.
