download expired? was created by ruud68
Hi,

just saw an updated version of eventbooking and tried to download: although I bought a subscription some time ago, it states that it is expired????

There must be something wrong because at the time I bought it (and it was one of the reasons I choose this software) there was no mention of any expiration...

How to enable my license again confirm the terms when I purchased it?

Thanks again!
regards,
Ruud.

Hi Ruud

We had to changed our license long time ago because we had to maintains the extension with so many different Joomla versions. That's the reason we could not give free upgrade for lifetime anymore.

Hope you understand and continue support our development (please note most of other provider provide extension with the price double or more compare to our extensions, also, they usually provide free upgrade for about 3 or 6 months).

Regards,

Tuan

Hi Tuan,

thanks for the clarification, if the change was that new purchases where limited in time and would adhere to new terms then I would understand.
I do not understand how it can be seen as good business practice to change this for commitments made in the past???
Frankly, if that is the way I would run my business in the Netherlands they (my paying customers) would sue me and I would be out of business :(

Why not only change the terms for new purchases?

regards,
Ruud.

Hi Ruud

I am sorry if you are not happy with the changes. My original terms and conditions was decided when I only developed for Joomla 1.5 and later, Joomla released so many different versions. If you develop site in Joomla, you will see that for each LTS, there are many changes in Joomla API and we have to do many works to make our extensions to compatible with different Joomla versions.

Thefore, we had to change our terms and conditions.

Please understand that we keep the price for our products low already and we tried our best to provide good support (very good support, I believe).

So please be happy with the changes and continue support our development.

Hi Tuan,

for me this is a nogo
Although I understand that developing on a moving environment needs constant changes, it should not be in the form of re-paying the whole license....

What I could understand is the you have:
1. a buy once license
2. a recurring (annual) maintenance fee (e.g. 10% is normal)

That would also mean that for this fee, people receive frequent (as in determined before hand) updates for new versions (bugfixes, maintenance changes, [platform changes, new functionality): = value for money.
The benifit would be that people with a payed subscription can have the latest version = best version, so support would be a lot easier and in the end everybody would be happy....

As you do it now, there is no way for me to know that there is a new version, what has changed / if I need those changes, etc. So paying the whole amount again and again is like you saying: "hey you mister Wallet, just hand it over and be happy with whatever I am willing to give you" :)

Is that something you can work with?

regards,
Ruud.

Hi Ruud

At the moment, we don't have a recurring maintenance fee feature. As you can see, for now , if you purchase an extension :

1. You will receive free support for 6 months.

2. Free upgrade for one year.

For new version notifications and change logs, I will improve it soon. Basically, my plan is that we will have an update notification which will tell you that there are new versions of the extension when you access to Events Booking from back-end. I will also keep change logs clear from now on (I will log all the changes, even it is just a small change).
