Event Category Module -set default month

I created a new module, mod_eb_category. which displays each category I have as a menu item. Each of my categories are set to calendar layout. Works great! But I need one thing - Is there a way to default the calendar to a specific month in this situation?

I figured out how to make this work. I created a link, on a hidden module, to the Category calendar layout and set the default month to October. Since it is hidden, it is live but not visible. Doing so set the default month for my categories to the same.
