When I purchased Event Booking just over a year ago, it was promoted with "free updates for ever". Now, as version 1.4.5 is about to be released this has been changed to "free updates for 1 year" without any form of communication or notice.

This stinks! I am now expected to pay again because the JoomDonation team lied. It also stinks that this change has been implemented just as an update is about to be released.

I absolutely refuse to purchase from this company when they cannot be trusted.

Pretty serious accusation. No response?

Hi

It seems my response to @gecouk was lost when we upgraded our site to Joomla 2.5. That's the reason you don't see my response here.

When I started the development of all of our extensions on this site, I only thought that we will only make it works for Joomla 1.5. From time to time, different Joomla versions released (1.6, 1.7, 2.5 released and Joomla 3.5 will also be released soon and so on, for every 6 months there will be a new version). Each time Joomla releases a new version, the API will be changed and we will have to spend too much time to make our extensions compatible with this new version of Joomla .

With these changes from Joomla, we realized that it was our mistake to provide free upgrade for lifetime. If we kept our original upgrade rules, we could not continue the development for our extensions , so we had to change policy to provide free upgrade for one year for each purchase. (please note that most other providers only provide free upgrade for 3 or 6 months, also the price for the extension with same (even less) features are usually much more expensive than my extensions).

We apology for any inconvenience for you by these changes. However, to keep continuing developing & maintaining the extensions, make it compatible with all versions of Joomla now and in the future, we will have to change the policy . Hope you all understand, and continue support our development .

Regards,

Your "mistake" not mine. You should honor your stated "free updates for ever" for those like me who purchased your product at the time. Changing your policy later is a matter for your conscience.

Hi

We are really sorry. As I mentioned before, to keep continue developing the extensions, adding more features to it from time to time, kept them compatible with all Joomla versions, we are forced to change the policy.

Please stand from developer point of view, free upgrade for lifetime could not happen in real life. We stated "free upgrade for limetime" without knowing about the change in Joomla (new version released, API changes every new version.....). And again, we are really sorry about it.

Please do look at our development for the products, look at the support we give to customers... and continue support our development.

I do not think it is possible to change the policy for already sold extensions. You can change the policy for new extensions, but you are obliged to honour the rights of the purchasers before the change of policy.

Anyway, I purchased Events booking on 29-6-2011. In february this year Event Booking version 1.4.4 was released, with support for Joomla 2.5
I should at least be able to dowload that version, because is was released within less than 1 year after my purchase?

I will submitt a ticket for this.
