Configuration Assistance

Hello,

I am a relative Noob to Joomla, So I need a bit of assistance trying to set up what I need. I need setup two separate categories for events. One City Category and the for each city I need eight event sub categories they can be for every city. I believe its a simple issue but I just some direction. Can anyone assist? Thanks.
