URL shortening for link sharing

It's a bit of a pain to have to manually shorten the URL when sending via twitter etc. Incorporating a shortening system would be really useful.

Perhaps this is what RCheesley was saying , but if not I think this is somewhat related:

I would like to have SEF URLs.

eg. website.com/events/event-title

rather than: website.com/index.php?option=com_eventbooking&task=view_event&event_id=9&Itemid=181
