Custom tile server address for openstreetmap / better privacy was created by Stephan
Hello,
For better privacy, I would like to request an option/input field to enter a custom tile server address to be used in OpenStreetmap.
Currently the address is hardcoded in /media/com_eventbooking/js/plg-eventbooking-map-openstreetmap.js and points to https://{s}.tile.openstreetmap.org/{z}/{x}/{y}.png.
I want it to point to our own server, where a script is implemented to download and cache the tiles. The script is adapted from this: wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/ProxySimplePHP .
The browser requests go to our server, which in turn downloads the tiles to the server and serves them from there to the user. The ip address of the user is never forwarded to OpenStreetmap.
To get it working in the current environment, I copied plg-eventbooking-map-openstreetmap.js to our template folder and changed the server address to our local tile server.
I then copied /plugins/eventbooking/map/tmpl/openstreetmap.php to templates/cassiopeia/html/plg_eventbooking_map/openstreetmap.php and changed it to include the modified js-file.
It all works perfectly well, but a simple config field to enter our tile server address would simplify quite a bit and be more future proof.
Kind regards
Stephan
