Hi Tuan,
We make extensive use of the Excel import feature for events.
That works really well and saves us a lot of manual labor.
We also make extensive use of customer fields in our events.
What we are really missing, then, is the ability to import customer fields.
Currently, I have to manually enable the required customer fields for each event. This is prone to errors and very tedious.

Could this feature be added to the event import function?

Our idea:
An additional column in the Excel import sheet where you can list the required customer fields, separated by semicolons.

Thanks,
Roland

Hi Roland

We do not validate and make sure all required fields are available when running import. However, we already allow importing custom fields for your event. Basically, for each custom field, you can add a column to the import field and the value of that custom field will be imported for the event.

Tuan

Hi Tuan,
OK, Ican sort out the availability and validity myself.
Is there a description or documentation explaining exactly how I can do this in the Excel import file?

Thanks,
Roland

Just add a new column to the import file for each custom field. For example, if you have a custom field with name field_speaker, you can add that field_speaker column into the import file. Enter the value of that field for each event in the related row in the import file, then try to run the import and check the result

Hi Tuan,
I get the feeling we're talking about different things.
I have currently defined around 50 different customer fields in EventsBooking, e.g. cost fields depending on whether you are a member or a guest.
I need to assign one or more of these predefined fields to each event, which is actually done for individual events by ticking the boxes in the Custom field Register.

Ah, Ah. You are talking about custom fields on registration form. As of right now, we do not have a way to assign the fields for event during event import, sorry

Hi Tuan,
That's too bad :(
You can actually import almost anything into Excel for an event.
But these custom fields on registration form have to be set up manually.
That takes a lot of work.

Maybe you could give my suggestion some thought.
A great solution would be, as described above:

An additional column in the Excel import sheet where you can list the required custom fields for each event in the corresponding row, separated by semicolons.

Thanks,
Roland

This is the first time I heard about this request. This contains certain amount of works when not many customers need it. So I will leave your request here, if there are more customers need it, I will consider spending time to look at it to find a solution

Hi Tuan,

Thanks for the info.
There may be other users who use the import function for events.
We use it extensively because it makes creating events much easier.
And as I said before, the only thing missing is the ability to import these custom fields on registration form. Then the import function would be perfect.

Thanks,
Roland

Hi Roland

If that feature is important for you, maybe you can consider hiring us (or someone else) to customize the import feature to allow importing registration custom fields for you.

Tuan
