Updating Recurring Events was created by Dave Johnson
As far as I'm aware, there isn't a solution to my problem, but it would be a good addition.
I use recurring events often but there is one aspect of this that I find frustrating. I set up a Parent event with all the event details (description, date, picture, price, capacity etc), then I set the recurrence (eg weekly for 52 weeks). Now on some of these weeks the event will not take place because of holidays or the venue being used for something else etc. So I go to each cancelled Child event and simply unpublish it.
However, let's say I find an error in the text of the events, or maybe i need to change the price or capacity. I make my changes to the parent event and then i tick the box "update children events" so that the changes are global. However, the problem is that all the unpublished cancelled events then become published, so I have to remember to keep a list of them and remember to go back and unpublish them.
So, it would be good if there was a tick box for "keep published state" so that the status of each child class can optionally be unchanged after the update.
Thank you
Dave

I would support this! This is really, really a huge issue at all!
The best solution in my opinion would be:
Event Booking should support: iCal standards RRULE and EXDATE
You could then simple set up the following:
FREQ=WEEKLY;INTERVAL=1;UNTIL=20240129T235900Z; EXDATE:20240101T010000Z
You can read the iCal standards here:
www.kanzaki.com/docs/ical/rrule.html
www.kanzaki.com/docs/ical/exdate.html
Then all these issues are gone! All other solutions won't fulfill any standards (in my humble opinion) and shouldn't be integrated.
So please make it good and implement the iCal standards of RRULE and EXDATE.
Thx in advance!
Br, Florian
