It would be nice to assign a custom field to a category.

I came here to suggest this.
I have custom fields that I only use for certain event categories. It would be good if I could assign a category to these custom fields and then have events in that category use those custom fields.

Hello

It's already supported. Go to Events Booking -> Configuration, set Assign Custom Fields to category instead of to events config option to Yes

Now, when you add/edit custom fields, you can assign that custom field to the categories you want (instead of assigning to individual events)

I've discovered a bug.
If you go to Setup-> Custom fields, and then choose an event from the filter,
and then you go to Configuration and set "Assign Custom fields to category instead of to events" to Yes
If you then go back to Setup->Custom fields, there is no way to make custom fields show up except the ones that are assigned to your last chosen event.

The only way to fix it is go to Configuration and set "Assign Custom fields to category instead of to events" to No
Then go to Setup->Custom fields
Turn off the event filter dropdown
then go to Configuration and set "Assign Custom fields to category instead of to events" to Yes
