Hiding empty fields in invoices

Is there a way to hide empty fields in the invoice? I created an "Affiliation" custom field, which is not mandatory. However, when people leave this field empty, I see a [affiliation] tag in the invoice.

People who fill this field usually need it (when the invoice is payed by their organization), so I have to put that information on the invoice.
