New Feature: Custom validation rules

Dear all,

this 3rd is open to collect potential votes to request a "Custom validation rule" new feature to be added to events booking.

A "custom validation rule" is a rule that we can apply to the fields of the registration form. A "custom validation rule" would allow one to specify (in a file, or in an area of the backend) a <php> script that executes some checks on the field and returns 0 or 1 (true/fals) depending on the validation rule executed, meaning false=not accepted and true=accepted field value.

If you believe you like the idea and would like to prioritize this request, please make a comment to the 3rd to the developers will get this request into the enhancements for the next release.

+1 this would be very useful. I've customised the javascript validations to make a server side ajax call but it's a real hack.

I'd like to add my vote for custom validation rules. We use our system to register sailboat races, and we need to prevent duplicate sail numbers being entered.

I am building a registration system for our martial arts tournaments and it would be really useful to be able to validate the consistency of information entered for grade, age, gender and division. The proposed approach of a php script that return true/false would work well for us.

I see lots of people have added their vote to this feature. I hope the Dev Team will listen into this and make sure EB does not lose track against other extensions that have already incorporated this into their products!
