Notifying attendees of event that it was canceled

I wanted to make this as a separate post.

First off is there a way to cancel a event with out publishing it? So it would stay in the calendar for people to see it was canceled.

Also if a event is canceled/unpublished is there a feature to let the attendees know that the event was canceled?

In my testing so far I have not come across this and think it would be a good feature.
