Mailchimp confirmation mail

Dear developer!
In the mailchimp plugin it would be nice to have option to send confirmation mail to registrant to be added to newsletter list. In this way we comply to the law and the user gives explicit consent to be added to the newsletter instead of hidden. Is it possible to add this to the plugin?
