How about an option for calendar view to default to the first month with an upcoming event. Eg. Pretend I have events on March 1 and June 10. When viewing the site during January and February, the user is shown the March calendar by default. In March, they see March (obviously!). The user returns in April or May and is presented with the June calendar as the initial view.
Right now, the calendar defaults to the current month or the admin can force it to a pre-chosen month. Why not let the calendar also auto-choose the month based on when the next upcoming event is?!?!
