Choosing the directory on the server to upload too

Currently when you add a new document unless I am missing something Giving the doc a title choosing a category, browsing to the file on your local computer, then saving the doc it saves and indexes the doc to the file in the root dir. I want to be able to choose the directory that the new doc is saved to and indexed. A drop down that allows you to choose the directory under edocman to save the doc to. I would be willing to discuss custom programming $$ to accomplish this
