Timing of when events/classes fall off the website

We would like to have an option of having events/classes to fall off the website after either the start date or end date. I understand we can manipulate this by setting the "Cut off date" to the last day of a class, but we do not like to have a cutoff date field to show at all since it has two rows of the exact same day (Event End Date & Cut off Date). It causes more questions than answers.
