Waiting List Thoughts and a few others

Hi Guys,

Thanks for a great extension, I would like to make a suggestion regarding the waiting list and its useability.

1. Waiting List
Current functonality just allows a user to add them selves to a waiting list, for the selected event.
If you want to get these users onto the actual event if someone drops out opening up places is,
First - email the first customer on the waiting list(no auto mailing function here either with a link to the event in the email), to lt them know a place is opening up,
Remove the cancellation opening a new place to the public not necessarily just the waiting list person.

This makes it difficult to manage a waiting list.

My suggestion to improve this,

- Make waiting list a Status along with Paid and Pending, make the registering person fully register as if buying a ticket but have the status set to "Waiting List", and not having to check out.
- when a place opens up in the event automatically change the first person on the waiting lists status to "Place Offered" sending the registrant an email to complete their registration and payment.
- Have a message that can be edited, for "Event place opened up".

Adding these two Status's to a registration means that those on a waiting list are genuinely on a waiting list and are easily transferred to the event in an appropriate order.

2. Pre-registration/Invites
I would like to have the ability to add known users in at status "Place offered" as above, the purpose of this is effectively for an invite only event that then would be opened up to public after invitees have not accepted thier place offereing.

3. Category based colours and or Mini images on the calender views to help identify different types of events.

4. An Ticket Availability Start Date
This item would allow you to preset events and have them activate at a certain date and time, so that you don't have to have access to turn your ticket availability on, it can be preset.

5. The ability to add custom fields per event, that are then able to be displayed in the registrants list if you want.

6. The ability to add a user as a front end manager of a single event, they would be able to
- Change payment status of registrants
- send the event mass mail
- adjust the event details
- export registrants to csv

7. A Weekly view of upcoming events, that is based around the next seven days from the day viewed (eg on monday it shows Mon to Sun, on Thursday it shows Thursday to wed.), either horizontal or vertical view, It only need to show the event title, and maybe the event Mini Logo, as above.

Most of these items I would be interested in finding out what they would cost me to have implemented, as they would make our business a lot easier.

I totally agree on you suggestions, mostly the waiting list functionality, because now nothing happens if someone cancels their registration. There's even no way to transfer a waiting list user to the registrants list or to send them an email if a place opens up. Right now I don't see why the waiting list could be enabled or used, because it simply does nothing

Agreed; the waiting list enhancement would be great.

I see this topic / suggestion is nearly a year old?!

I bought the extension a few days ago and am disappointed about the waiting list. seems not really usefull to me as it is now ... and that seems to be the status for nearly 1 year. :S
