When a user pays through PayPal (or any other payment method), description should be user configurable.
For example, {EventName} - {RegistrantFirstName} {RegistrationLastName} {RegistrantEmailAddress} or whatever the user decides
This will make it substantially easier to match up PayPal payments with registrants especially when more than one person registers and pays with a single transaction.
