In the product module for example when you choose to display the shopping cart, the button never appears.
Is this a bug or the module is not supposed to work like this?

Hello Theo,

I think the reason because you didn't enable the Shopping Cart mode for your site. Please read more about how to enable it at eshopdocs.joomservices.com/general-tips/...e-shopping-cart-mode
