Registered user and sales tax

in order to have sales tax applied to an order in eshop the buyer has to select a customer group (resident or non-resident). When they register as a user in eshop this works fine but if someone registers as a user on the home page then at checkout they are not asked to choose a customer group. this bypasses the tax. Is there a way to fix this?

I think in this case, you should disable the register on Home page and only use register user at checkout of EShop. Because register on home page is not related to EShop so customer can not choose customer group from there.
