Are credit card numbers stored on the server?

Our site using Eshop and JoomDonation was hacked and I want to know if there is any way credit card info could have been retrieved from the database or server? Could you please explain how your products store and handle credit card information? Thank you for your expertise.

If you use online payment gateway with our extensions, then they does not store the credit card information to the database. When you use offline credit card processing payment plugin, only a part of credit card is stored into the database. So I am sure that the problem with your site is not related to our extensions.
