Resize Whitespace around Manufacturers image for .

I want to reduce the white space around the manufacturers Image for all products. I have tried cropsize, resize and maxsize in the system -> images under configuration and I have tried entering different size parameters for the images. But the white space is allways there. How can I get Rid of it?
