Allow donation when total price is zero

I am wanting to have some 'pay what you wish' downloads but it seems if I set the price to free and no shipping cost (since it is a download), even though I have the "Checkout Donate Enable Checkout Donate" option enabled, it does not appear. Is this a bug and if not is there a way to have the donation part shown even if the total order cost is zero?

I am sorry but our extension does not have the feature to allow customers to enter the amount that they want to pay at checkout.

That's a shame. As it does have the option to allow them to pay an extra donation is it that hard to always show that, even if the total is zero? 'Pay what you wish' seems a very common option so surprised it is not available at the moment.

Sorry but that is where the problem is - I have turned on the Checkout donation feature and it works fine for other items that have a value, but if the total cost comes to zero then it doesn't show the Checkout donation option.

Good morning Buzzy T. Gath here... I am wondering if you found a workaround for this issue as I have a client wishing to offer their music EP as a download with which the customer can choose their own amount to pay. ... very similar to your original question.

Hello there. Alas I haven't really found a way to get this to work. I'm really surprised this isn't supported as does seem a quite common thing to want. The developer seems to have gone quiet on it though and as my subscription has run out I'm starting to feel I may need to look for a different extension that can replace both the shop and the donations module from here as neither allows the pay as you wish and/or donate and get a download type feature
